Wat The Thanon This provincial crossed-leg sitting Buddha image is housed in the Vihara of Wat Tha Thanon right in the heart of Uttaradit city. It was cast of bronze in Chiang Saen period, having the lap width of 32.5 inches and a height of 41 inches. highly Uttaradit residents respect it greatly.
Monument of Phraya Phichai Dap Hak Phraya Phichai was a brave hero of Uttaradit, being in the combat alongside King Taksin the Great. Phraya Phichai was assigned by King Taksin to rule Muang Phichai Kingdom and promoted to Phraya Siharat Dejo. The people of Uttaradit have combined their efforts to construct a monument of him at the Provincial Administration Building. It was inaugurated on February 20, 1969.
Uttaradit Cultural Centre It is located in the Governor's Residence, where ancient artifacts can be seen. It is opened for public viewing and has many antiques on display.
Mae Phun Waterfall This man made waterfall is located 12 kms. from Lap Lae market. It looks natural and its area is shady and pleasant which makes it a place in Muang Lap Lae that is worth visiting.
Muang Lap Lae A district of Uttaradit province, located on 6 kms. from Uttaradit town, is renowned for its natural beauty. Teen-jok design hand woven fabric and brooms made of Tong Kong grass are made there. The area known for fruits like Durian and Langsat. They are very economically priced during the peak season when the district conducts its annual Langsat fair.
Sila Asna Bedstead This bedstead is located in Wat Phra Thaen Sila Asna, 6 kms. from the township area on a hilltop with a 60 meters access path. There a celebration fair takes place in the middle of February or March (Magha Puja Day) every year.
Phra Boromthat Thung Yang This pagoda is also called Phrathat Thung Yang. It is an ancient statutory place like Phra Yun Buddha Bhat Yukhon. The present pagoda was constructed 70 years ago to replace the original one which fell into ruin. This wat is located in Thung Yang market, 5 kms. from the township area.
Wat Phra Yun Buddha Bhat Yukhon This ancient monastery is located next to Wat Phra Thaen Sila Asna. The old Mondop, topped by a five-piece roof with four abodes on the highest peak and a Burmese tiered umbrella, was constructed by early Chiang Saen artisans. It is the only of such architecture seen in Thailand.
Nam Phi Village This village is renowned for making iron swords that do not rust. When approaching the village, you will hear the iron sword being hit in every house. The village is 25 kms. from the township located in Thong Saen Khan district.
Sirikit Dam This dam is located in Tha Pla district, 60 kms. from the township area and is accessible by a good asphalt road. The barrier is 169 meters in height having the barrier top width of 12 meters with a lenght of 800 meters and blocks the flow of the Nan river at Pha Som. Its construction was started in 1963. The upstream part of the river has now become a big lake having beautiful scenery suitable for sightseeing.
Big Teak Tree Forest Park This area is located in Nam Pat district which has the largest teak tree in the world. It is promoted as an arboretum by The Forestry Department.
Langsat Fair This fair is annually conducted during the first part of September on the open area in front of the provincial hall. Langsat fruit is the main theme of the fair. |
